Wash & Fold Service Policy

The Laundry Coin LLC

Version 4.4 · Effective 8 September 2026 · Supersedes v4.3, v4.2, v4.1, v4.0 and the policy dated 8/25/26

I. Scope

This policy applies to Wash & Fold laundry you bring into our Cottage Grove shop yourself.

It does not apply to Laundry Drop, our pickup-and-delivery service. Laundry Drop has two plans — the Subscription for students within 1.5 miles of the University of Oregon campus, and Laundry Drop Local for residents of Cottage Grove and Creswell. Both are governed by the Laundry Drop Terms of Service, which you agree to at signup or booking.

If you use both, this policy governs what you bring in and the Laundry Drop Terms govern what we collect from your door.

Delivery is not available under this policy. See Laundry Drop.

II. How drop-off works

Drop-off is unattended, in both directions. You order on the online form, we assign you a locker, and you load it. Nobody has to be there to receive it. When your order is ready we send you a locker number and an access code.

Drop-off is available every hour the doors are open: 6:00 AM to midnight, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Last wash is 11:00 PM.

III. Pricing

Consumer
Price$2.00 per pound
Wash & Fold laundry bag, first order$12, required
Replacement bag$12
DeliveryNot available under this policy — see Laundry Drop
Standard turnaround2 business days
24-hour rush service$10 per order

Minimums and rounding. Pricing is by weight, rounded to the nearest 0.5 lb. Bags and hangers are excluded from weight.

The laundry bag. For hygiene, tracking, and safe transport, first-time customers purchase a reusable Starter Bag. Keep it and reuse it — bring future orders in the bag, we wash the bag each time and return your clean items in a liner inside the same bag. If a future order is not dropped off with the bag, a new bag is issued at $12.

Intake and estimate. After we receive your items we weigh the laundry and tell you the total based on weight. By leaving items, you authorize us to launder at posted rates.

Payment. Payment is due in full before laundered items are returned. Laundered items that remain unpaid or unclaimed for 14 days may be donated.

Turnaround. Standard turnaround is 2 business days from the day we collect your order from the locker. We collect from drop lockers through the day; an order left after the last collection begins the next day. We text you when your order is collected, so you always know when your clock started.

Rush service is subject to availability. If we can turn your order in 24 hours we confirm it and the $10 applies. If we cannot, we tell you before charging you anything.

Specialty items. Bulky and specialty items are priced per piece, not by weight:

ItemPriceNote
Comforter$25
Blanket$15
Duvet Cover$15Remove insert
Washable Rug$10
Mattress Pad / Topper$25
Pillow$20
Sleeping Bag$15
Pet Bed$20Non-memory foam
Horse Blanket$25Per blanket

For bulky or specialty items not listed, we quote you a price before washing.

IV. Heavy soil surcharge — $20, and only with your approval first

Heavily soiled laundry is not refused. If the contents of your bag are heavily soiled — mud, paint, grease, strong odor, excessive pet hair — such that they need more than one wash cycle to come clean, a $20 surcharge applies for that bag, for that order.

We never apply it silently.

1. We photograph the contents and text you before washing anything, with the $20 surcharge stated.

2. If you approve, we wash and the $20 is added to your total.

3. If you decline, or we don't hear back within 24 hours of the text, we do not wash those items. They come back to you unwashed, at no charge, with the rest of your order.

No reply means no wash and no charge. The surcharge applies no more than once per bag per order, no matter how many extra cycles it takes.

This replaces the previous "$10 at our discretion" rule. We do not charge you for anything without telling you first — the same standard that governs every other charge in the business.

V. Customer responsibilities

Special care. We do not launder delicate, high-value, or sentimental items — heirlooms, wedding dresses, designer pieces. We are not responsible for these items if they are mistakenly put in the bag.

Sorting. We do not sort articles before washing. All items in a bag are washed together. You may sort items before dropping off by placing them in separate bags.

Shrink-risk items. Do not include garments at risk of shrinking, such as wool sweaters. We are not responsible for shrinkage or damage if such items are included.

Pockets and accessories. Check all pockets and remove loose items — money, pens, phones, jewelry. We are not responsible for items left in pockets or any resulting damage.

Care instructions. Provide any specific instructions — water temperature, unscented detergent, no fabric softener — through the online form at drop-off. Instructions apply to that order only. Provide them at every drop-off; we do not carry preferences forward between orders. There is no counter conversation, so the form is the only place we look.

VI. Operations and handling

Default care. Unless otherwise specified in writing, items are washed in warm water and dried on medium heat. This is the same default Laundry Drop uses.

Colorfastness. We do not test for colorfastness and are not responsible for dye transfer from non-colorfast items.

Pre-existing condition. We are not responsible for pre-existing damage, weak seams, loose trims, missing buttons, or manufacturer defects revealed during cleaning.

Pre-treatment. We do not provide pre-treatment such as stain removal. Please spot-treat items before drop-off.

Inventory and photos. Orders may be counted, weighed, and photographed at intake for quality control.

Refusals. We may refuse items that present a health, safety, or equipment risk — mold or mildew, suspected bedbugs, strong chemical or fuel odors, solvent contamination, bodily fluids. Refused items are set aside unwashed and returned to you.

Foreign objects. We may remove or dispose of foreign objects found in pockets if they pose a risk. Disposal or loss of such items is not our responsibility.

VII. Detergents, softeners, and sensitivities

Options. On request we can use fragrance-free, hypoallergenic, or eco-friendly detergents, and your choice of softener or none. Instructions go through the online form at drop-off. Cross-contamination cannot be guaranteed — our machines are shared.

Allergies. Customers with allergies or sensitivities must provide written instructions through the online form at drop-off. That field is the only place we look. We are not liable for reactions, and we cannot accommodate a sensitivity that was never disclosed there.

VIII. Quality, loss, and damage

Items we do not wash. Dry-clean-only items, shoes, and memory foam, including memory foam pet beds and toppers.

Stains. We do not guarantee stain removal.

Mix-ups and missing items. Report concerns within 48 hours of pickup. We'll investigate and may offer a rewash.

Rewash. If the quality is not satisfactory, tell us within 24 hours of pickup and we will rewash once at no charge. Items must be unworn and unused since pickup. The rewash is completed on our standard turnaround.

Liability cap. Our maximum liability for loss or damage is the lesser of the item's actual cash value or $150 per item and $250 per order, regardless of original purchase price or sentimental value.

We do not cover shrinkage, color loss or bleed, damage to trims, damage arising from care-label instructions we could not see, items we advised against including, items left in pockets, reactions to detergent or softener where the sensitivity was not disclosed, or any consequential or incidental damages.

Please do not send irreplaceable, heirloom, or high-value items through Wash & Fold. The service is priced for everyday laundry and insured accordingly.

IX. Communication and privacy

Updates. You consent to receive texts and emails about order status, billing, and locker access.

Photos. Photos are used only for quality control and claims resolution. We do not use customer images for marketing without explicit permission.

X. Disputes and policy administration

Claims window. All claims must be submitted within 48 hours of order pickup.

Refusal of service. We may decline to accept an order, and may decline to serve a customer again, for repeatedly leaving items we cannot wash or must refuse under Section VI, for non-payment or a disputed charge we told you about in advance, for damage to or misuse of our lockers, bags, or machines, or for abusive, threatening, or harassing conduct toward our staff. Nothing is prepaid under this policy, so there is nothing to refund. Any completed order still unpaid remains payable, and any order already in our possession is returned to you. The equivalent rule for Laundry Drop is Section 18 of the Laundry Drop Terms of Service.

Force majeure. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our control, such as utility outages or severe weather.

Governing terms. The version of this policy posted in-store and online at the time you drop off governs that order. We may update this policy; updates apply to orders placed after they are posted.

XI. Customer consent

By agreeing to the consent on the online form, I acknowledge and agree to The Laundry Coin's Wash & Fold Service Policy.
